As Manager Design, you will be able to work with the relevant team leaders within the department to further optimize effectiveness and efficiency. In this process, you will act both as a coach to those involved and as the initiator of the change and improvement program to be implemented, and you will be able to manage both the technical aspects and the interpersonal aspects (staff commitment).
This involves the detailed planning and execution of process optimization to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of (turnkey) quotations and tenders in collaboration with the sales department; the process of transferring work from Design to Engineering (work preparation) and procurement. This step-by-step change program must also encompass two sub-projects: the continued implementation of 2D to 3D CAD design and drafting, and overseeing the implementation of a CPQ solution to support the optimization (scalability) of the quotation process.
You will be actively involved in and form part of the Design Team’s day-to-day operational activities; you will provide direction to the team and encourage and support the development of your colleagues. Through your coaching, leadership and ability to drive change, you will inspire your colleagues, optimise processes, and implement and sustainably embed changes.
The Design department comprises several disciplines: turnkey, Greenhouse, Climate, Water and Electrical. Working closely with the Sales and Research & Development departments, customer requirements are translated into conceptual designs, which in turn lead to design drawings and cost calculations.
