The role: Designer Greenhouse
Do you get energized by smart structures, accurate calculations, and collaborating across multiple disciplines? As a Designer Greenhouse, you turn customer ambitions into technically sound and feasible greenhouse concepts. From the first sketch to the complete proposal, you lay the foundation for international projects that will ultimately be built.
Your Role
You are involved from the tendering and contract phase onward and help shape the technical concept. You translate customer requirements and technical specifications into a well thought out design, a reliable cost estimate, and a compelling proposal for greenhouses and support facilities.
You work with various calculation tools and interact daily with Designers specializing in climate, water, and electrical systems, as well as with the Sales team. Together, you bring all disciplines together in one smart design and a technically and commercially strong proposal.
Once the project is awarded, you ensure a complete and smooth handover to Engineering and Projects. This enables your colleagues to move directly into the execution phase with the right information.
What you will do
- Design: Develop conceptual drawings for international greenhouse construction projects.
- Calculate: Verify steel structures using specialized software, including Casta.
- Estimate: Prepare technical and commercial cost calculations and identify optimization opportunities in design, material usage, and costs.
- Prepare proposals: Request quotations from suppliers and consolidate all internal and external pricing into a complete customer proposal.
- Coordinate: Discuss technical solutions with customers, suppliers, Sales, and fellow designers.
- Advise: Support customers and the Sales team with clear technical advice.
What you bring
You combine technical insight with a keen eye for detail. You take ownership, communicate effectively, and enjoy working with others to achieve the best solution. In addition, you recognize yourself in the following:
- Bachelor's degree level of thinking and working, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Affinity with greenhouse construction, steel structures, or similar technical projects.
- Experience with cost estimating and structural calculations.
- Good command of both Dutch and English.
- A proactive, flexible, and independent mindset.
- Strong team spirit, communication skills, and a high sense of responsibility.
